The foundational history of Wasala Community begins in the year 1970. The property farmland of Wasala was founded and owned by the late Mr. Dickson Chokwelo, who was an entrepreneur that managed a fleet of businesses and he bought the farmland of Wasala in about 1970. After His death the Chokwelo family that is, sons & daughters have since lawfully taken ownership of the farmland which is Wasala. The Community draws its name from a fleet of businesses that the late Mr. Chokwelo used to manage. It’s believed that the community had its first inhabitants in 1970 when the farmland was legally acquired. In addition, the community has always had on it built makeshift houses of clay to sustain the vulnerable inhabitants that have found solace on this property. The Chokwelo family has remained helpful to house a fleet of Makeshift buildings on this farmland has a way to manage the property, hence making up the community of Wasala.
CHIM endeavors to help better the Community of Wasala, which is located west of Lusaka Province particularly in Chilanga district. Wasala Community is approximately on 55 hectares of land. The property is adjacent to five different groups of farmlands. To the west and south, Wasala is adjacent to Game Parasy and Evergreen Farm. To the north and east, there is Mayflower, Olds and Mustard Farms. In addition, 50 hectares of the farmland is occupied by inhabitants that make-up the community, 1-2 hectares of the land has been allotted for the burial site and the 3 hectares has been reserved for future developmental ventures. The community has 500+ Makeshift buildings or houses.
Covenant Heart International Missions is highly focused at enhancing the economic standard, discipleship programs, education, nutrition and health in this community of Nkanzi.
